Waking Up in Love
You know the feeling, right?
It’s admittedly cheesy, so you’ll have to bear with me on this one. And no, i won't apologize, because this.is.the.whole.point.of.life. Literally.
At one point during the weekend, I got unexpectedly teary-eyed realizing that I had quite literally woken up in the middle of my dream life. And no, it wasn’t just because of the breakfast in bed, the 10 a.m. mimosa, or the gigantic bouquet of flowers gifted to me by the two men in my life (although… let’s be honest, that definitely helped! Haha). It was something much quieter than that.
I wanted to take mental snapshots of everything around me and somehow store them forever. You know that trend on TikTok where people say, “This is the moment I’ll come back to when I’m 80”? That’s exactly how it felt.
I couldn’t stop watching my son’s huge expressive eyes while he passionately explained something about super-hero. Same thing for my husband’s quiet little smile when he looks at the two of us, the kind of smile that says everything without needing words. Even my giant dog insisting on sitting directly on my feet (not next to them, not near them, just fully ON them) somehow felt overwhelmingly precious.
And in those tiny ordinary moments, I realized how deeply I love this little life. Not perfect. Not always peaceful or easy. But still perfectly splendid!
UGHHH. Motherhood really turned me emotional, hasn’t it?
I hope that whether you are a mom, a stepmom, a hoping-to-be-a-mom one day, a grieving mom, someone missing their own mother, or simply far away from her today, you feel deep love, and comfort, not just today, but every single day.
Motherhood, in all its forms, carries so much joy, longing, sacrifice, tenderness, and strength. And whatever your story may be, I hope you are reminded that you are loved.
