The Idle Society

Meet Julie
First of all, don't let the picture above fool you! This is not another look-how-perfect-i-am or please-pay-attention-to-me website. Far from it.
If i'm being honest, last week, i brought a frozen cheesecake from Trader Joe's to my kid's school because I signed up to bring a dessert during Teacher Appreciation Week. But let's try to keep this between you and me, shall we?
And before we get Karen from PTO upset, yes, teachers deserve absolutely everything. A raise. A vacation. Maybe even a private island. But that particular day? Your girl simply did not have it in her.
On a more serious note, hi there! I'm Julie!
I was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium. Yes, i'm a French speaker and, I've always had a bit of a wandering spirit. After university, I packed my bags and moved to Los Angeles for a year to work as an au pair. I wanted to improve my English, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. That's where I fell in love with the United States, and honestly, I've never quite gotten over it!
After that adventure, I moved to Paris, where I lived for several years before the company I worked for transferred me to New York City. I called Gramercy home during my time in Manhattan before eventually returning to Brussels to join L'Oréal.
Then, in 2018, life surprised me once again and brought me to Arizona. A state i never been in and knew not a single soul.
A few months later, I met my now-husband.
Like so many couples, we spent months planning our dream wedding. Picture that: a gothic European cathedral in the heart of Brussels, nearly 200 guests, a luxury hotel with no curfew, a honeymoon in the Maldives. And like so many couples in 2020, we had to let those plans go. Thankfully, just before the world shut down, we were able to get married in a tiny civil ceremony with two witnesses and a judge. It wasn't the wedding we had imagined, but it ended up being perfect in its own way. However, I'm still not over the fact that I never got to wear the wedding dress we spent months choosing. My mom, my sisters, and I searched high and low for the one, and we found it! Honestly, I may never fully recover from the fact that it never made its grand debut. Anyways!
Not long after, we welcomed Gaston, a mischievous Goldendoodle puppy who keeps life interesting on a daily basis.
Then, in 2022, came our greatest adventure yet: becoming parents to our son, Arthur.
This little corner of the internet is more “beautiful chaos” than perfection. I love pretty homes, beautiful clothes, fresh flowers, long champagne lunch, deep conversations, cozy books, and adding a little Je Ne Sais Quoi to Life… I also deeply believe you can romanticize your life while still buying store-bought desserts and hiding laundry in the guest room five minutes before people come over. It's called balance, i believe.
I would love for The Idle Society to be your destination for lifestyle, travel, fashion, home design, motherhood, and career.
A study in unbothered living, where life is curated, not controlled.
We move through the world with ease and intention, without stress, overthinking, or the need to impress anyone.
Unbothered means we’re not chasing approval or reacting to noise.
Beautifully means everything is done with taste, care, and intention.
Living means the mindset behind it all, the daily choices that shape an intentional life well-lived.
We curate, but we don’t obsess.
We appreciate beauty, but we don’t perform it, we don't stage it.
We value quality over validation, ease over expectation, and confidence over perfection.
Perfection is overrated here. A little chaos is always welcome!
Expect less pressure, more presence, and a life lived entirely on your own terms.
